About the Adventure

The fish market of Waterdeep’s dock district was teeming with life.  Ships slowly brush past one another amid soft calls of sailors in the harbor.  Spring was firmly upon Waterdeep’s economy and the dour winds of Deepwinter and the Claw were finally Melting… as the month of Melting is greeted fondly by all of Faerun.  THOOMB!  A cataclysmic rumble jolts the streets as birds take to the sky! Gouts of flame erupt from sewer grates and a tsunami like wave spews from the entrance to Skullport!  The streets creak and moan a final death rattle and in moments a TWO-MILE crater collapses the whole of the Docks District of Waterdeep!  Water rushes into the streets, toppling buildings and washing street vendors young and old into broken walls, glass and livestock, then slowly steadies and finally drags thousands of souls back out to sea!

This was the first break in the Lord’s Alliance of the Sword Coast, and somewhere Szass Tam let slip a smile.

——–

The War of Melting – Defend the Sword Coast is a continuation for many party members who have played Dragon Heist into a homebrew’d sequel The Bloody Pieces of Jarlaxle Baenre.

This party begins this next session at 10th level and will play through level 20.  The party’s actions have been harrowing and led to the defeat of Manshoon, and Lord Cassalanter as well as the possible death of Xanathar itself!  Their actions however in accomplishing these amazing feats have unwittingly allowed the deposed Arch-Devil Moloch into the prime material plane.  This fiend arrives amid a huge arcane bomb erupting in Skullport that indiscriminately reaps the lives of tens of thousands emboldening the devil and strengthening his foothold.  More tragically in the blast is the late Blackstaff leaving Waterdeep without its most fervent protector.  Lady Silvermane is rallying all heroes that survive the tragic event to keep order and save as many as they can.  This reveals that many of the Harpers, Emerald Enclave and Order of the Gauntlet’s leadership are culled from the blast… yet hope remains.

This campaign will endeavor to mix story with a sandbox style of play that allows for large scale battles and more intimate quests and dungeon crawls.  Waterdeep’s wound is known to the Red Wizards of Thay and they will act quickly to strike against the jewel of the Sword Coast.  Their tenuous alliances with great Drow houses of the Underdark may prove useful as war seems inevitable.  Yet only our party of heroes knows of Moloch’s presence away from the grips of the plane of Hell.

This campaign will have a couple of slots open (looking for new players to join the mostly formed group).

——Player Requirements——

We use Discord for our voice chat and narratives (I encourage players to write between sessions if inspired).

I use Roll20 for our VTT (virtual table top)

I use DnDByond for our character sheet record keeping and I share all my books with the party to help with making the characters you want to play!

I have some homebrew rules that will come into high-level play.  CONCENTRATION in DnD will be changed.  The players will be able to concentrate on multiple spells at a time based on their Intelligence bonus and maintaining spells will be at disadvantage should you choose to chance it.

DEATH’S DOOR is also deadlier.  I will hyrbid in 1st edition AD&D with 5e/2024 = if you drop to 0 hit points and are healed back to positive hit points, you come back with 5-levels of exhaustion.  Gone are the days of Yo-Yo healing/fighting (Grave Domain clerics will have less restrictive results resulting in only 2-levels of exhaustion keeping in theme with their build).  Players will be pushed to their limits and I hope that this will pull some wonderful strategy from min-maxers and great role-play in dire moments to beat back the forces of evil!

Waterdeep, the Lord’s Alliance and the Sword Coast need you!

Highly immersive game play and beginner friendly...

July 6, 2024

I recently had the pleasure of playing in a Cyberpunk Red game run by HollywoodDM (Nat), and it was an outstanding experience! HollywoodDM made the entire process incredibly smooth and enjoyable.

From the start, he created an immersive and engaging story that drew us all in. His vivid descriptions and dynamic storytelling brought the cyberpunk world to life, making it easy for us to get lost in the narrative. He was also incredibly patient and helpful, taking the time to explain the rules and mechanics in a way that was easy to understand.

What truly stood out was his ability to guide us through our first experience with the system. He provided us with a plethora of ideas and options for what our characters could do, ensuring that we felt empowered and excited to explore the game. His enthusiasm and dedication to making sure we had a great time were evident throughout the session.

Overall, GM Nat is an exceptional game master who excels at creating a beginner-friendly and immersive experience. If you’re new to Cyberpunk Red or just looking for a fantastic game master, I highly recommend playing in one of his games!

A very unique oneshot that was thoroughly fun, made by an awesome DM!

HollywoodDM is an incredible DM and very well experienced to anticipate my groups actions, and work with them on the fly. This oneshot was very fun and I highly recommend anyone reading this review to give him a shot. I know that I don’t regret playing in his oneshot, and I know that you sure won’t! And to my DM, masterfully done, masterfully played, 10 out of 10 would play again.

An amazing DM... a true rare talent!

I’ve played every permutation of D&D since 1984, and what makes every game enjoyable is a GM focused on story and character. Nate has a wide arsenal of voices and differentiated NPC motivations and in-depth back-story, which combine to make his world-building feel full and truly “alive.”; During game sessions, his descriptions are rich, and his pace of play is neither hindered by excessive role-play, nor Spartan/without flair combat (specifically, he doesn’t pull punches in fights, which I appreciate and prefer). I’ve also found that even small clues and seemingly incidental details present themselves in all NPC interactions, many of which lead to entire other adventures, or even campaigns. He really does balance his non-combat/combat sections well, and while I’m not privy to other groups that he runs, my group of veteran players are thoroughly addicted. I highly recommend you hire him for your campaign, or one-shot (just don’t take my time slot)!

Nate, is an incredible and versatile DM. He helps guide newer players with care and gives them the tools without being condescending. My group has had epic encounters, plot twists, memorable NPCs, amazing storylines, but most of all, all our characters were built up, through side quests or random encounters, making all players feel like a family. Cannot rate Nate high enough. 99/10 rating.

I am a very socially anxious person. When my friend and I were at a loose end when our friend group dissolved due to kids, work, blah blah blah, we took a look at RPG Club and decided to give it a try. Hollywood DM created a safe, inviting and cool place to be. Wonderful world building together with characters that you really want to love or hate, Noctis delivered every time and that’s all down to Nate. I would and have recommended him to other friends that are looking to play more.

Nate is an excellent DM who not only makes a great game for players but also creates room for others to build their DM skills. The story he greats are immense with twists and surprises. I have enjoyed working with him on the Noctis campaign. He made a stranger feel welcome and helped us have a great experience.
