About the Adventure

Adventure Overview

Before the tumultuous events that shook the very foundations of Baldur’s Gate in the famed series, the city was a melting pot of intrigue, power struggles, and ancient secrets. “Baldur’s Gate Shadow of the Past” is a campaign that delves into the rich tapestry of the city’s past, exploring the origins of conflicts and characters that later shape the future of Baldur’s Gate.  Join me every Monday and live the adventure of the journeys hero through the mythical and deadly landscape of Baldur’s Gate.

Preparation (For Players)

All you need to play is a computer, access to Wi-Fi, and a microphone. We use Tail spire as our virtual table-top, D&D Beyond for building/keeping track of our characters, Stream yard for sessions and Discord for in game and post game communication. There’s no fee required for any of these tools. I recommend at least getting your own copy of the Player’s Handbook, but you’re welcome to use the resources in my digital library.

Who Will Like This Game

Fans of epic narratives set in sprawling urban landscapes, teeming with intrigue and danger, will find themselves right at home. If you’re drawn to stories where the line between hero and villain is blurred, and where your choices carry the weight of consequences, this is your playground.

Character Creation

There are no restrictions for character classes or races, I strongly encourage that you keep the themes of Baldur’s Gate in mind. We will have a zero session as well so that we can finalize characters as a team. Feel free to use any character development system that helps you enjoy and have fun playing the game. Backstories are highly encourage (not too long not too short) this will tell your journey in the World of Faerun and how it ties you into the Expansive city of Baldur’s Gate.

Gameplay

Gameplay is cooperative and designed for the table to maximize having fun. Adult themes, intense drama and exciting combat can be expected within the guidelines of acceptable behavior. Roleplay is always welcome but not required, if you have dice use them as I believe the honor system or if you choose DnD Beyond dice can be used as well. The goal of the table is too have fun and use this time to escape the real world and play in the adventures of the City of Baldur’s Gate.

Great story teller

I’ve been playing in Jason’s Fool’s Errand table for over a year now. It is my Sunday night fix, and has been a mainstay of my weekends. Jason has crafted a fantastic story, with intriguing characters and twists and turns throughout. There hasn’t been a single night when we finished and I thought “well, that was a waste,” (outside of a night of HORIBBLE rolls and completely misread situations that trashed our game plan, but we still had a blast!! LOL).

Jason is patient with n00bs, but also challenging for vets of the game. He seems to have a keen sense of intuiting your game ability and challenging you at a place that will be difficult but not insurmountable. He’s also a great listener, and if you can think it, he’ll try to think of a way to make it happen within game mechanics.

I had the pleasure of playing a lvl 20 one-shot with him a couple of weeks back in place of our standard game, and it was the most challenging and simultaneously rewarding night of DnD I can remember!

All in all, he’s a fantastic GM, and I hope any new or veteran player can get a chance at the Storyteller’s table!

It was a awesome group with an great DM. The game was very newbie-friendly, and there was a nice variety of characters. I loved the run-down before game of expectations for game play. The adventure was tricky and I got to utilize some ball bearings with varying levels of effectiveness.

My only (very small) critique would be that I wish there was a little more hand-holding pre-game as I was coming into the game with zero idea of how online DND would work, and had limited experience with online character creation. The Discord assistance with my many questions was so very, very much appreciated.

I hope I get to play at one of your tables again! Thank you!!!!

Great one-shot

I played a one-shot with Jason. It was very challenging and fun. Jason was a great host in all regards, including in the support before the game. Big thanks!

The game in it self help me a lot a getting a grasp on the action economy for a character I was creating.

My only gripe is that I do wish we missed one of those enormously high checks for some added drama – but our dice game was just too good! 😀

Thanks Jason!
